Selection Recommendations

01

OTDR Wavelength Selection

For single-mode fiber, use 1310nm for short links (<20km) and 1550nm for long-haul. For multimode, use 850nm/1300nm. Always match OTDR wavelength to the operating wavelength of the system.

02

Cable Certifier Accuracy

For Cat6A certification, use Level IIIe or Level IV accuracy testers. Ensure test adapters match the connector type (RJ45/GG45). Calibrate adapters every 30 days or 500 tests.

03

Fusion Splicer Maintenance

Clean V-grooves and fiber clamps daily with IPA and lint-free wipes. Replace electrode rods every 3000 splices. Perform arc calibration before each session in new environments.

04

Spectrum Analyzer Setup

Set RBW to 1/100 of the span for accurate measurements. Use a pre-amplifier for signals below -80dBm. Always apply a 30dB attenuator when measuring unknown signal levels to protect the input.
